We are pleased to invite you to UMTIK-2012, the 15th International Conference on Machine Design and Production, to take place between June 19 - 22, 2012, in Pamukkale, Turkey, a town famous for its natural beauties and ancient history. As has been in the previous UMTIK Conferences, UMTIK-2012 aims to constitute a forum of prominent academics and professionals from all over the world to discuss the latest advancements, emerging technologies and systems in design and manufacturing of machines, manufacturing systems and technologies.
The first day of the Conference, June 19th, will be devoted to industrial tutorials, workshops, invited lectures and selected papers on High-performance machining processes and machine tools as a tribute to Professor Yusuf Altıntaş. The organization of the first day activities will be conducted by Dr. Erhan Budak (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Dr. İsmail Lazoğlu (email@example.com). If you are interested in organizing tutorials or workshops or submit papers on this topic please write to Dr. Budak and Dr. Lazoğlu. Further proposals of new tutorial, and workshop topics from the academia and industry for the rest of the conference are also invited and encouraged.
The scope of the conference includes (but is not limited to) the below topics:
- Design of Production Processes
- Design of Machines and Their Applications
- Engineering Design Methodology and Design Models
- Novel Trends in Engineering Design
- Modeling, Analysis of Failure in Machine Elements and Mechanical Systems
- Mechanical Design and Production of MEMS
- Advanced Materials in Machine Design and Manufacturing
- Modeling and Simulation of Manufacturing Systems and Processes
- Sustainability in Design and Manufacturing
- Flexible and Distributed Manufacturing Systems
- Intelligent Systems in Production
- Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing
- Computer-Integrated Manufacturing Systems
- Emerging Technologies in Design and Manufacturing
- Creativity and Innovation in Design
- Smart and Intelligent Product Design
- Sensor Technologies and Networks in Design
- Engineering Education in Design and Production
All from academia and industry willing to disseminate, share and advance their knowledge and expertise are welcome to participate in this forum as authors or audience members.
With this early call, we encourage you to submit your ideas about special sessions that you would like to organize on topics of your choice within the main frame of the conference. In the past, these sessions have brought together academia and industry experts on selected topics and were found successful in forming new acquaintances and renewing old ones for possible future collaborations. Among the special sessions organized in previous UMTIK conferences are Design and Processing of Advanced Composites, Micro-machining and Virtual Reality in Machine Design and Manufacturing. Let us know your ideas.
Year 2011 became a hard year for many in our world. The earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan resulted in the loss of thousands of Japanese people, making thousands more homeless and disabled. The disaster became a worldwide catastrophe after the explosions in the nuclear power station and the spread of radiation. We would like to express our sorrow and deep sympathy to Japanese people, wishing them a quick recovery. This year will also be remembered by the peoples movements in the Arab countries which started in Tunisia first and spread to the others as a kind of chain reaction. We would also like to express our deep concern and sympathy for the Arab people who suffered. We hope that all these disasters will come to an end and give way to a much better world to live in and UMTIK 2012 be a breakthrough for the participants coming from all over the world to relax in the peaceful environment of the conference venue, Pamukkale.
The venue for UMTIK-2012 is the Colossae Thermal Spa Hotel (http://www.colossaehotel.com), located near the world-famous Pamukkale travertine terraces (of unique limestone formations) and the ancient city of Hierapolis. The conference participants staying at the Collossae can take advantage of the spa pools of the hotel, feeding from the Pamukkale thermal waters and the Karahayıt red water springs. Also in the vicinity are many other natural and historical points of interest that the visitors can enjoy, such as the ancient Laodicea Church, one of the earliest Christian churches, and the stalactite cave, the Kaklık Cave. Other accommodation options for a variety of budgets will be offered on the conference web site (www.umtik.com) in the coming months as the conference details emerge.
